Perkins DEO Launch

The ExxonMobil-MAL Blending Plant in Pakistan was officially opened on March 7 with a grand launch ceremony and immediately started producing Perkins Diesel Engine Oil (DEO).

Attending the launch in Hub, Balochistan, were Ralph Medora, managing director of Perkins distributor Mayphil (UK), Athar Hayat, chief executive of Bahum Associates, Lt General (ret) Khalid Rabbani, managing director of AWT and Khawar Jamal, chief executive of MAL Pakistan.

About 150 key customers, including major telecoms and industry buyers, were on hand to watch them ‘press the button’ to start the machinery used to formulate the unique blend of Perkins DEO. The event received significant national media coveage.

In the plant’s first day of operation, more than 10,000 litres of oil was blended. It has the capacity to blend more than 30 million litres a year.

Perkins DEO has been well received in Pakistan, where it was launched in summer 2015, with several hundred thousand litres pre-booked by major national clients.  After six months of field trials, Mayphil’s customers have reported that Perkins DEO extends oil life by more than 75 percent, resulting in lower maintenance and labour costs.
